3D Space-Truss Solver

A finite element program for nodal displacements, member forces, and support reactions in space trusses.

Method

The program reads a formatted truss model, checks the input, assembles element and global stiffness matrices, applies nodal forces and supports, solves for displacements, and recovers member strain, stress, axial force, and reactions.

Reported results

The report presents five test-case outputs. Its reported relative residuals range from about 8.27 × 10⁻¹¹ to 5.84 × 10⁻⁸. These are algebraic residual checks for the modeled systems, not experimental validation.

Engineering use

The project ties finite element formulation to robust file parsing and informative input errors, making the solver useful for repeatable structural test cases.
